DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS

DASP ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2025

“Thriving as Catalysts: Expanding the Role of School Psychologists for Lasting Impact"

April 10th & 11th

Hyatt Place Dewey Beach

1301 Coastal Hwy, Dewey Beach, DE 19971

Featuring Keynote Speaker and NASP President Peter Faustino, PsyD, who will talk about school psychologists as "Catalysts in Action!"

"A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction, or lowers the temperature or pressure needed to start one, without itself being consumed during the reaction. Catalysts by definition are connectors; they only work by pairing together with other substances. Join NASP President, Dr. Peter Faustino for a fun, informative, and inspiring presentation on the transformative power of relationships in school settings."

Learning Objectives:

1. Spark discovery at the heart of systems level change through the lens of the transformative power of relationships.

2. Discuss the critical NEED for change within school systems (i.e. systemic inequity, social justice, concerns related to burnout and shortages of school psychologists).

3. Review skills that make school psychologists unique as Science-Practitioner-Advocates within school communities.

4. Share NASP resources as a method to tackling our daily challenges.

Dr. Rebecca Branstetter’s full day workshop based on the Thriving School Psychologist platform will address the following learning objectives through engaging discussions and interactive activities:

  1. Enhance Professional Resilience and Reduce Burnout:  Understand evidence-based strategies to prevent burnout by building personal resilience and managing stress through effective time management and self-care practices.
  2. Work Smarter, Not Harder with Technology:  Explore tools and techniques to streamline school psychology practices through technology, including data tracking, scheduling, and collaboration software to maximize efficiency and focus on student impact.
  3. Build Strong, Ethical Partnerships with Multidisciplinary Teams:  Learn best practices for ethically and effectively collaborating with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other professionals, building strong networks to address diverse student needs and support holistic student well-being.
  4. Strengthen Data-Driven Decision Making:  Gain practical skills for collecting, interpreting, and utilizing data to inform intervention decisions, track student progress, and advocate for services and resources that support student mental health and academic growth.
  5. Advocate for Expanding the School Psychologist’s Role:  Develop techniques for communicating the expanding role of school psychologists to stakeholders, emphasizing contributions to mental health, crisis response, and social-emotional learning in addition to assessment responsibilities.
  6. Implement Practical Strategies for Thriving in High-Need Schools:  Identify specific, actionable strategies to manage high caseloads and address the demands of working in schools with critical shortages, ensuring sustainable, high-impact practices that benefit both students and staff.
  7. Promote Systemic Change through Relationship Building:  Discover ways to act as a catalyst for positive change within school systems by strengthening relationships with students, families, and staff, creating a school climate where mental health and wellness are prioritized.
  8. Stay Current with Ethical Standards and Advocacy Practices:  Explore current ethical guidelines and advocacy practices in school psychology, learning how to stay aligned with NASP standards while navigating the demands and complexities of the role during times of shortage and evolving responsibilities.

These objectives align with Dr. Branstetter’s focus on sustainable, impactful practices and will give participants valuable insights to thrive in the expanding role of the school psychologist.

Stay tuned for other learning objectives for DASP including a panel discussion, ESR updates, and mini skills content table rotation!
